CHIN IMPLANT

Why choose to get a Chin Implant?

If you’re troubled by how gravity and age are affecting your face, or if you’ve always wanted a more pronounced chin, a Chin Implant might be right for you. A Chin Implant surgery, often called genioplasty or mentoplasty, is a cosmetic chin-augmentation procedure that involves the placement of an implant in the chin. This gives it a more defined look and sharper contours that improve the patient’s overall appearance.

Chin Implants are commonly made from soft, pliable materials that ensure your new chin shape looks entirely natural and fits well with your profile. A well-defined chin will benefit your entire face. Your chin will balance the proportions of your face. Weak or sagging chins can be fixed with Chin Implants, giving you a new profile.

Best-suited candidates

In general, you are an ideal candidate for Chin Implants surgery if you are dissatisfied with the current shape of your chin, do not smoke, are in good health, and are at a stable weight. You must have a positive outlook and realistic goals for the procedure.

For physical requirements, ideal candidates should have good dentition and occlusion, where both the upper teeth and lower teeth are aligned. You may not be recommended for a Chin Implants surgery if your lower jaw sits too far back from the usual position. A physical examination of your chin will be conducted to determine if you can benefit from a Chin Implant. Chin implants are often combined with other facial surgeries. Dr. Rau will help you decide which procedures may be best for you.

Chin Augmentation details

Dr. Rau will perform your chin enlargement surgery under general anesthesia. The Chin Augmentation surgery is usually completed in less than an hour. Dr. Rau uses an incision in your mouth or under your chin to place the chin implants. The implants are placed directly on your jawbone. There are many different sizes and shapes of implants. Dr. Rau will help pick the one that’s right for your face.

Recovery process

Dr. Rau will provide a list of post-surgical instructions that will help you minimize your recovery time. After a Chin Implant surgery, contact sports and activities that can directly impact your chin area should be avoided for at least eight weeks. Recovery and return to moderate daily tasks will take two weeks, but resuming rigorous work may take you three to four weeks. Soft foods and a liquid diet are recommended to lessen the pressure on your Chin Implant. In six weeks, the general swelling will disappear, and the results of the Chin Implant surgery will become fully noticeable.

Cost of a Chin Implant

The cost of a Chin Implant will depend on several factors. The price can be affected by body type, type of technique performed, surgical complications, and even allergies. The overall price may also be impacted by the implant material used, as well as anesthetic and surgical fees.
