Breast asymmetry is a common occurrence. It is often caused by aging, hormonal changes, growth disorders, hormonal contraceptives, or weight changes. Breast asymmetry or unevenness mostly occurs due to variations in the fat layers. The two breasts may look different in size, position, volume, or shape.
While asymmetrical breasts are not typically a reason for concern, they may result in low self-confidence and self-esteem issues. In most cases, asymmetry can be corrected using a breast lift, breast reduction, or breast augmentation.
Is Breast Asymmetry correction right for me?
Most healthy women above eighteen can undergo correction, choosing breast lift, reduction, or augmentation based on asymmetry type, age, health, and expectations. Optimal weight and non-smoking are essential.
Types of correction procedures
Breast asymmetry correction can be performed using three types of procedures: breast lift, breast reduction, and breast augmentation. The right procedure for you will depend on the type of asymmetry, your age, your health condition, your expectations, and many other factors.
Breast Lift: A breast lift involves the removal of excess skin to reshape the breast. This process reduces breast sag and restores perkiness. The areola can also be resized and/or repositioned.
Breast Reduction: This procedure removes excess fat, glandular breast tissue, and/or skin from the breast. Once the procedure has been performed, the larger breast now matches the size of the smaller breast. The areola can also be resized and/or repositioned.
Breast Augmentation: Breast augmentation involves placing a silicone or saline breast implant behind the breast tissues. This creates new volume in the smaller breast, allowing it to match the size of the larger breast.
Recovery and healing
Downtime varies depending on the chosen procedure. Breast lifts have the shortest downtime of all the options. Follow post-surgical care closely. After the surgery, the breasts may be sore, swollen, or bruised. These issues will fade in time and can be addressed with cold compresses. Patients must stay home from work for a time and avoid physically taxing activities. Wearing a surgical bra without an underwire will help support the tissues while they heal.
Cost of Breast Asymmetry correction
The cost of your breast asymmetry correction procedure will be impacted by several factors. The procedure that has been chosen, the total surgical time, and the techniques utilized will all affect the overall price.
